Michael L. Evans

Michael L. Evans, a former San Diego native, migrated to the Pacific Northwest in 1999. He has been publishing his haiku since 1997. His poems have appeared in the following haiku journals: Frogpond, Modern Haiku, The Heron’s Nest, Hermitage, Paper Wasp, Moonset, and others, as well as in Red Moon anthologies. His tanka and cinquains have also been published in a number of journals and collections.


midnight snow

my thoughts drift

to the white chessmen


Agate Beach—

finally finding one

in a gift shop


garden pond

a koi nibbles

at spring rain


dandelion wind

a thousand wishes

cross the sky


a purple plum

eaten at surf’s edge . . .

I skip its stone
