June 18, 2011 Joint Haiku Meeting at Bloedel Reserve
Northwest Haiku Gardens
The Seventh Joint Meeting of Haiku Poets in the Pacific Northwest
Hosted by the Port Townsend Haiku Group
Please join us on Saturday, June 18, for our seventh joint meeting of Pacific Northwest haiku poets, including the Seattle, Bellingham, and Port Townsend haiku groups, and welcoming the new Sequim haiku group. At Fay Bainbridge State Park, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch and walking by the beach and water, and then, at nearby Bloedel Reserve, we’ll enjoy walking through the gardens, woods, and historic estate house, and writing and sharing our haiku. We will also hear a reading of Northwest Haiku Gardens, featuring garden-related haiku by members, edited by Christopher Herold. We will cap the day off with a kukai and then dinner. Come join your fellow haiku poets for an inspiring day together!
See event photos.
What to Bring
If you plan to come to lunch, bring your own and meet us in the park.
Bring four or five of your haiku to share (we’ll also be writing haiku during the day).
If you’d like to bring a broadside or mini-chapbook of your work as gifts, please feel free to do so. We won’t have room or time for the sale of books.
The weather has been fickle this year, so be prepared with layers, just in case.
