About 25 people attended a reading for Glimmering Hour at Village Books in Bellingham, Washington on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, including the following 16 readers: Sheila Sondik, Curtis Manley, Victor Ortiz, Judith Avinger, Michelle Schaefer, Alan S. Bridges, Bill Fay, Seth Friedman, Terran Campbell, Michelle Ballou, Connie Hutchison, Gary Evans, David M. Tookey, Dianne Garcia, Michael Dylan Welch, and John S Green (listed in reading order and pictured below in the order they read, with John also at the start as the MC). This reading was part of Carla Shafer’s Chuckanut Sandstone Writers Theater at Village Books. We sold five copies of the book, and the store kept seven additional copies to sell. We began with a reading of the memorial poems, with a projection of a PowerPoint showing photos and poems of all memorial poets, followed by Sheila Sondik talking about her process in making the book’s artwork, including a showing of numerous pieces of her art. After this, John S. Green introduced each of the readers in turn, who read their work from the anthology plus a few additional haiku and senryu. The evening concluded with an open-mic reading of mostly longer poetry. Photos by Michael Dylan Welch.
