Post date: Sep 20, 2014 6:40:56 AM

Haiku Northwest is pleased to announce that its 2014 Seabeck Haiku Getaway schedule is now online. Highlights include presentations by our featured guest, Alan Pizzarelli, the return of morning meditations, this time while walking through our haiku labyrinth (back by popular demand), a craft workshop to make a handmade flag-books, and a special new night-time haiku walk (bring a flashlight!). We’ll also hear a history talk by Chuck Kraining, executive director of the Seabeck Conference Center, to celebrate Seabeck’s 100th anniversary. Featured speakers and performers for the weekend include Donna Beaver, Susan Callan, Terry Ann Carter, the mysterious Joey Clifton, Susan Constable, Aubrie Cox, Christopher Herold, Deborah P Kolodji, Chuck Kraining, Dejah Léger, Carole MacRury, Dorothy Matthews, Tanya McDonald, Margaret D. McGee, RaNae Merrill, Kathy Munro, Alan Pizzarelli, James Rodriguez, Michelle Schaefer, John Stevenson, Angela Terry, Richard Tice, Jessica Tremblay, Karma Tenzing Wangchuk, Michael Dylan Welch, and Ruth Yarrow. Yes, it’ll be a busy—and exciting—weekend!

Start preparing now by making your own name tag (perhaps a new one instead of reusing your tag from last year?) and a trifold haiku handout or something similar to trade with others (about 55 or 60 copies should be sufficient). You are also invited to bring items for the silent auction (they don’t have to be haiku-related) and books to sell in our bookfair. Bring poems to share at open rounds of reading and workshops, too, and don’t forget to prepare something splendiferous for our Saturday-night talent show!

If you haven’t yet registered, it’s still possible to do so, for either the entire retreat or just part of it, including single-day attendance. See our registration page. Please register by October 10 (and email us to let us know you’re coming). See you there!
