Seabeck Haiku Getaway 2019 Registration Form

The 2019 Seabeck haiku retreat will run from Thursday afternoon, October 24, to Sunday lunchtime, October 27, with optional Sunday-afternoon activities. See the 2019 retreat schedule. We’ve tried to keep the fee as bare-bones as possible. It’s just $270 for three nights of accommodations, nine meals, and all retreat activities if you register by September 20, 2019 (or $305 after that postmark date), the same price as 2018. If you can’t come until Friday night, the rate is $225 (or $260 after September 20). For day visitors (pick your day or days, including lunch and dinner each day, but not breakfast), the fee is $70 per day (or $85 after September 20).

Accommodations are typically shared, sometimes with shared hallway bathrooms. Rooms are limited, so we encourage you to double-up if possible (we will pair you with a roommate unless you have your own roommate preference or request a private room). If you require a private room, fees are a minimum additional $45 per night if you stay for the entire conference (slightly higher per night if you stay for fewer nights). Please contact us about reduced rates for children (rates depend on age; free age two and under). We also have a spouse/partner rate (if your significant other would like to attend, but does not participate in the haiku activities—although they are welcome to attend and contribute to our evening talent show, and any events at which you are presenting or reading). We’ll be staying in Reeser (our accommodations for the first Seabeck retreat in 2008), the Historic Inn, the Annex, and Spruce, with the historic Meeting House as our primary meeting room. In all, we trust that you will find our 2019 retreat to be even better than our previous ones, so please do sign up!

Registrations accepted from July 1, 2019 to October 18, 2019 (please do NOT register before July 1). Early registration discount ends September 20, postmark date (but please also email Angela Terry at amterry9@comcast.net to say your registration is coming, if you register close to or after September 20). Registration MAY be possible after October 18, especially for day visitors—please inquire.

NOTE: As of September 15, 2019, we are nearly out of rooms at Seabeck (we were full, but one or two rooms just become available), if you have not already been in contact with Angela Terry about a room. Please contact her immediately at amterry9@comcast.net if you are still hoping to come. If we end up being full, and you wish to attend for one or more days or the whole retreat, rooms are available in the nearby towns of Silverdale (closest, at about seven miles away), Bremerton, and Poulsbo, and you can book one through Booking.com (or whatever other hotel booking website you use)—or try Airbnb, such as Eaglewood at Seabeck. We may also have a few last-minute cancellations, and if you would like Angie to let you know if one comes up (if we do fill up), email her at amterry9@comcast.net and she’ll set up a waiting list, first come/first served. For those who requested a single room, if you would be willing to share, let Angie know and she’ll refund you the difference if we need make the switch. (We usually do not run out of rooms, but have come close this year because of a major reconstruction project at Seabeck, which includes building a new facility to replace the campus’s largest accommodations structure. We apologize for this unusual situation. The good news is that we hope to stay and meet in that new structure next year!)

Priority booking: We’ve booked about the same number of rooms this year. We don’t expect to fill up, but in case we do, priority will be given to a) people attending the entire retreat, b) the date we receive your payment, and c) if necessary, people willing to share a room. Please note that an increasing number of people are requesting private rooms, which reduces the total number of people we can accommodate, so please share if you can.

Cancellation policy: Reservations cancelled by September 20, 2019 are entitled to a full refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee. After this date, partial refunds will be given at the registrar’s discretion, minus at least a $50 cancellation fee. You must email or phone us by September 20 to cancel your reservation. Note: It is possible that we may not be able to make any refunds after the cancellation date, but if we can, any refunds will be subject to at least a $50 cancellation fee.

Note: Your fee includes all the meals indicated. If you expect to miss any meals, such as Sunday lunch (if you might be leaving before lunch), please let us know so we can inform the kitchen. This will help reduce food waste.

Payments from Canada: We can deposit Canadian cheques. Please check the current exchange rate and determine how much money in Canadian dollars you have to pay to equal the U.S. amount due. Rates may fluctuate between the time you write your cheque and when we deposit it, but we will sort out any overpayment or underpayment at the retreat itself—please remind us, if necessary.

See you at Seabeck!
