Remembering Michael Kettner

Michael Kettner (who published as M. Kettner) was an active force for poetry, including haiku, in the Seattle area for many years. Although he was seldom directly active with Haiku Northwest, he was present at the formation meeting of Haiku Northwest in 1988, and published several small books of haiku and related short poetry around that time. Until 1997 he also edited Catalyst, a free poetry journal that included haiku, concrete poetry, and longer poetry with art. Just added to the Poems by Haiku Northwest Members page is a memorial page for M. Kettner, including a selection of his poems, many of which feature his distinctive use of a slash mark to indicate a pause or juxtaposition.
